Scenario: The Giants are Coming! (Horrorclix vs. Mechwarrior Metagame)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction: This is a scenario I posted a while ago on Wizkids site but thought it was appropriate to bring back with the release of new monster game.

Whats a good horror story without a giant monster vs the military? I know I have been iching for it and now, with the introduction of giants, we have it. So lets pull out those Mechwarrior pieces (I collected a few but never really played) or buy some, set up your army and get ready to hold the line against these giants of Horrorclix.

I haven't played Mech warrior but a few times but I have read over the rules several times while making this scenario. Please so forgive my ignorance of the nuances of the rules.

To combine these two games they have to play Horrorclix rules mostly with a few exceptions (see special rules). Enjoy the scenario and don't let the Giants destroy my city.

Backstory:
The Giants are Coming!
Cried a paniced voice through the com system in the mobile HQ.

None of the Soldiers in this unit had actually seen the giant in person, except for intel pictures and a few that saw brief news footage. Most have not seen the Giant because those who had have not lived to tell about it.

These are the soldiers stationed at the last checkpoint between the city and the marching giant. If the checkpoint before them doesn't hold the beast then they must hold the line while the city is being evacuated. Millions of lives, including their own, are at stake.

The buzz and chatter over the com system had the eriely familiar sound of chaos. The frantic orders being shouted through a static-filled sytem seemed to come to fast for anyone to follow.

One last scream of warning powered through the HQ's speakers, then...silence. White noise crackled through the speakers while the communications specialist tried to get a response. This lead to one conclusion, the gaint were victorious.

Their suspecious minds were not kept waiting long as a rhythmic dull thumping sound began in the distance. As the thumping sound got louder the ground started to shake and non-secured objects began to vibrate. The unit commander didn't wait much longer before announce over the com system, "The Giants are coming! Battle Positions!"

Objective: Giant Monsters- Defeat the army to destroy the city. Military- save the citizens and hold off or destroy the giant monster.

Time limit: 60 minutes

Map: Outdoor map (I can think of several outdoor Heroclix maps, like Coming of Galactus). A traditional Horroclix map may not properly set the mood so a custom map may be needed. You can also set up like a traditional mechwarrior game with measurement and setting up terrain on a open play area.

Set up: No Horrorclix objects can be used (i.e. Tree, tombstones, etc)

Army size: Giant Monster team gets only 1 monster unless both players agree to play with multiple monsters for a larger game. The military gets an army double the size of the Monster's total build. All military units must be of the same faction, if possible.

NO MECHS CAN BE USED in the initial set up (see special rules)

Crypt: Both players can build a crypt per standard rules. Monsters cannot play monion suplots.

Special Rules:
Victims, rescueing and the Military
-"Godzilla!!" All victim tokens represent a crowd of people running for their lives in terror.
-"Don't worry maam, we are here to help!" Vehicles, Infantry and flying vehcles in hover mode can rescue victims.

Mechwarrior figures
-Mechwarrior figures have no front or rear arcs. Bonuses given for those are not used.
-"Its trying to control our minds" All mechwarrior figures can be possessed.
-Infantry and vehicles do not take pushing damage (mechwarrior rule) but become vulnerable with 2 action tokens.
-"You want some?!" Mechwarrior figures use their SEC to determine the affects of their special abilitles.

Giant figures
-"Puny Humans." Giants, like Mechs, deal 1 damage to infantry on a break away.
-Giants cannot run (Mechwarriror rule)
-"Your silly machines don't work on me" Giants immune to the affects of Repair or Bypass special abilities.

Bringing a Mech into the game. Mechs cannot start in the game but are brought in when specific game criteria are met.
-"Go Vultron Force!" Units with Battle Armor in their name and have the same faction symbol can be used to assemble a Mech.
a Minimum of 5 Battle Armor figures must be used to form the Mech (thats how many it took to make Vultron). Each figure must be worth 18 point or more.
-The total point value of the Battle Armor figures combined (minimum 5) must be equal to or greater than the Mechs point value.
-All must be adject in their friendly starting area to form a Mech.
-To activate, at least 6 victims must be rescue by any friendly figure. It Does not matter who rescues them.
-All figures forming the Mech must have the same faction symbol.

Mechs in Horrorclix. Rules for Mechs stay almost the same as in Mechwarriror.
-Mechs cannot rescue or slay victims and cannot become bloodied (they have Assault Combat manuever and Death from Above)
-Mechs only take 1 action token after that they take clix of heat per standard rules. They gain 2 action tokens when shutdown.
-Venting is done per standard rules.
-Mechs are only considered vulnerable when shutdown (gain 2 action tokens). Figures attacking a shutdown mech do not gain the +4 attack bonus.
-Mechs can run, Assault Combat and Death from Above with all listed bonuses and penalties (except for arc bonuses or penalties)

Vicotry conditions: Defeat the oppossing army but more importantly... have fun.

This scenario gives you a chance to use your monsterpocolypse building or you can use the scenario from Wizkids site.
