HeroClix Online is a program used to, and this is a real shocker, play HeroClix over the internet. Those of you who once were Magic players may remember Apprentice. HeroClix Online is the Apprentice of HeroClix. It's a relatively light and simple application that displays figures and objects as colored circles on the map, with the selected figure's stats and keywords visible on the right side of the screen.
Just as Apprentice eventually had patches for other trading card games, I've been hard at work using the Custom Figure tool to copy over each individual HorrorClix dial from It's Wicked Fun. So far I'm 100% done with the Base Set, working on all the Action Packs before I start on The Lab.
The only thing that doesn't quite work is hidden victim tokens. A face-down victim is a separate object from a face-up victim, and I haven't found any way to allow each player to provide a defined set of victims that can then be hidden and randomized. Instead, we have come up with the following solution: Whenever a face-down victim would be revealed, each player rolls a d6. The player with the lowest result chooses male or female. The player with the highest result chooses a specific victim of the chosen gender. The revealed victim becomes that victim.
This is not a perfect system, but it works. I've played a few games with a friend of mine and we found very few complications. What I'm looking for is someone to play some games with me, let me know what you think about how it plays and help me work out any little kinks that come up. In the process, I'd love an opportunity to playtest the new figures from my This Month In Fear thread in The Workshop. For team-building purposes, if you let me know ahead of time I can add in any figures you need that I have not gotten to yet.
It's not too much more time-consuming than a real game, I think. The interface is a very simple drag-and-drop sort of thing. The only thing that really seems to take up any extra time is setup (place a light object on the map, replace it with the Victim light object, place it on a bloodspot, repeat 12x) and determining victims (via the process described above). Of course it depends on the people playing, and I will warn you that I like to take a few moments to consider my moves.
EDIT: For some reason, saving teams doesn't seem to work, so you have to build your team before you start playing. Also, game states can be saved and re-loaded, so a game can be split up over multiple sessions if desired. If you load a save state, your team will be preserved (along with their positions on the map, damage taken, and everything else about the game).
Yes. Currently minions are bystanders with a point cost of 0. The only problem I can see with that is that you have to include them in your team, which cannot be modified once the game begins. For regular minions, if people find it easier, I can make them objects like I've been doing with victims. That way any number of them can be added at any time. For minions with powers, such as Alien Drone minions, they would have to be bystanders, but I'm still trying to find a way to edit the large figures so that shouldn't matter too much for now.
I think you may want to do that. I know after playtesting Agent Orange with his MINE ability he made a lot of Orange Lanterns (minions) is some game and none in others.
Since it's nothing more than a Java App, the HorrorClix Online app seems to work just fine under MacOSX. I haven't tried the networking yet, due to IT's firewall, but I plan to soon.
And since it's a Java app, theoretically it could go to the iPad . . .
LARGE FIGURE UPDATE: It turns out the guy who originally wrote this program has disappeared from the internets. In his absence, someone else has been updating the sets, and it appears they don't know how to add any new dials with more than 11 clicks either. However, it's totally easy to make large-based figures... they just can't have more than 11 clicks. For Thor's Mighty Chariot, the person who adds sets split it up into 2 dials, one costing 500 points and the other costing 0. All you have to do is replace one figure with the other once it reaches click 12. The same thing could easily be done for the 2x2 Alien Queen. As for the 3x6 Queen, it could probably still be done, but that would take 5 dials, plus the three 2x2 dials....
Sorry for the double-post, but I just figure if you don't mind taking Plot Twists on the honor system there's no reason you shouldn't be able to download the program and play with what it has so far.
Download HrCOL.rar and unrar it. Then, go to https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/ and get Hamachi. In theory this is not necessary, but I've never been able to connect without it, and besides that it will make it easier to find games. Once Hamachi is installed, join the following network:
HorrorClix
Password: 123
Build your team in the team builder, then go to View -> Battle Field. From there, click Multiplayer -> Host Game if you're hosting or Multiplayer -> Join Game if you're joining. Simple, right? If you're joining, you need the host's IP and you have to know which port they're on. That's one reason Hamachi is so useful. It creates a dummy IP for you to use.
Right now, saving teams doesn't seem to work. I may be able to fix this in the near future.
So, does nobody really care about this? Everyone seemed to want an online play program so bad just a year or so ago. There was more than one thread about it. But now it seems like the few people who did express interest or excitement this time around have never gotten back to me about actually playing. Is it the fact that it's incomplete? Or that you have to use a VPN program? Do you really not have any time at all for the game we all love? Or has the spirit of survivalism really just faded into a memory of a dream?
I have been busy as of late, with extra hours at work and taking care of my baby girl, not to mention regular home life... i do intend to try it out online but have not found the free time.
i did look at the program in the offline mode... is it possible to make the program size scalable to screen resolutions... ie my native Res is 1680x 1050 and i have to squint to see the map details. so is it possible to make the map appear bigger.
now would that be the size of the maps in the folder... or if you have larger res maps in the maps folder would it be bigger in the program. i did notice the fan made HeroClix maps in it, so that being said it would allow play of custom HRC maps... that there tickles my fancy!

I planning on giving it a go but I have been busy. But I want to keep Horrorclixs going. Right now I working on stealing more Heroclix stuff for Heroclixs. I am making my own (better) Nekkon and making some mods for Deadpool Merc with a Mouth after that I plan to make some more card for the clixs I done from BLG sets and maybe make some more and maybe make some new Plot twist or put together more Plot twist from Darkzilla and BLG. I dreamed of complete 60 mods from BLG sets and others here with dials and cards and plot twist and calling the set It's Wicked Fun but family, work and life take time, I would love to do another Survivlist project with everyone here just need that something to do it...

I'm not sure, but I think resizing the map images would cause the map to appear at a different size for your opponents. Or it might cause your positions to be inconsistent. I've never tried it. However, it might help just to press Z to zoom in.

Sorry if I haven't shown much interest in HrC On-Line, Sarcanis. I do appreciate the effort you are making and I would like to play on-line, but right now I'm so stressed out from my bleak financial situation that, when I get home from work, I just can't stare at a computer screen for more than a few minutes without getting a splitting headache... If/when things turn around for me, I will definitely be up for playing on-line.
Base Set
Action Packs (Aliens, Predators, Alien Queen, Hellboy, Freddy vs. Jason)
Demo
Starter
Marvel Zombies (Supernova)
The Lab up to #048 Irradiated Zombie V
Misc (a few assorted figures from The Lab, Freakshow and Nightmares)
Alright, so for just a demo how many points will be allowed for a team? I greatly appreciate the opportunity to play this game with someone, finally. I'll be free the majority of next week. So let me know when is a good time to play.
