ReSPAWNce
Ever since coming into this game, albeit it VERY late, seeing as how I've only been playing for less than two weeks, I've been tweaking different scenarios and ideas to add more flavor to the battles and open up new possibilities and strategies. I started off with the new victim rule (6 victims must have speed of 5 or 6. Slaying/Rescuing attempt on one such victim requires a roll by your opponent... 1 or 2: victim is slain/rescued unless a PT is played to counteract; 3 or 4: victim escapes and your opponent moves victim two spaces away; 5 or 6: victim escapes and gets a strike in on attacking/rescuing monster-deals 1 damage)
Now I've come up with another idea I'm eager to try. I'll let you know what happens with it. It's called ReSPAWNce. The rules:
During the game, after a player has a monster killed, they are allowed to make a decision. They can let the monster die, OR they can choose to have the creature RESPAWN. If they choose to do so, the respawning creature is put back into the start gate. The player then rolls a d6. If the result is a 1-5, heal the respawning monster a number of clix equal to the result. On a roll of a 6, the monster heals back to the green starting line! However, a price must be paid to respawn a dead creature. All other friendly creatures on that players team must take 1 click of damage! If a monster on the players team dies as a result, that monster is not allowed to respawn, the dead creature is removed from the game, and the players opponent is awarded the points. If more than 2 people are playing, the dead creature's points are divided equally amongst the others. When do you respawn? When do you just let them die?
Thoughts or opinions???
It kind of steals the thunder of the Sequel powers of Freddy Krueger & Jason Voorhees; if you ask me. It's also been done in Knockaroundguy's (IIRC) Nightbreed event dial, but only for the Nightbreed.
As far as I'm concerned, as long as you're playing and having fun with it, great. Check out some of the previously posted scenarios we got here. Other ideas to keep the game "fresh" include "Capture the flag"-type scenarios, "King-of-the-castle"-type scenarios, etc. Some Subplot PT's can also alter thegame, such as "Bring Them to Master".
