Anyone here play any card games still. Or is one hobby expensive enough?

Me I used to play Magic the Gathering, the Warhammer 40k CCG and YuGiOh, and slowly gave up on them as they quickly burned away the little cash I had left. Eventually I started to realize paying thousands for a few pieces of paper was probably not the smartest investment. But none the less I had fun.

Now I basically collect the Aliens Predator CCG card, The Terminator CCG cards as well as Tomb Raider CCG cards. A lot cheaper then the previous three and just as fun, but of course finding other players is very difficult. Been trying to find players for the AvP CCG ever since I started playing, but no luck there.

Anyways, just wondering what card games you used to or still play.

Actually the closest I have come to playing a CCG is well..........Horrorclix. Card games have never appealed to me at all.
I have always enjoyed miniatures tho'.
When I was in High School there was a group of guys who would play M:TG. They would slink off into a corner and bring out there cards. If someone approached to ask what the cards were all about, they would be quickly sent away.
They were an extremely snobby, geeky group.

Weird.

Yeah, that actually is one of the reasons I quit most of the card games I used to play.

A lot of people were just too serious when it came to playing. Some people I found were just crazy, and refused to talk when playing, they would simply gesture their moves by moving their cards in certain ways to indicate what action they were taking. It?s not that they were deaf, I saw them talking to their friends and such, it?s just that they wouldn?t talk. When I asked one guy to clarify what he was doing, he just kept repeating the same thing, pushing his card up and down. I thought well f--- this then, I?m outta here.

Others were just brutal towards young children trying to learn the game defeating them in a few turns that it quickly reduced the number of players. Then there was the variety of decks being played, it eventually came down to everyone playing the same cards and no variety, and really what fun is that.

I still play CCG's quite a lot.

I recently got back into Magic after a 7 year break. Really wish I hadn't sold my old collection now though.

I also play Call of Cthulhu CCG, EVE: the Next Genesis CCG and for a time I played VTES.

Played and still play the yugioh card game. I used to play the japanese version a while ago when a friend convinced me to play, I didn't understand the japanese but my best friend translated them for me. I also started buying the english version when it came to north america, but i still like the japanese version better.

Try Munchkin. It's a card game, but not a CCG, as you buy a box with a full set in it. There are expansions, but each one comes complete in its own box.

It comes in different 'flavours', each one poking fun of a different genre. To date, there is Star Munchkin, Munchkin-Fu, Munchkin Impossible, Munchkin Bites and Super Munchkin (in addition to the original D&D-esque one.) Munchkin Cthulu is coming soon.

The idea of teh game is to out munchkin your oponents and get to level 10, by defeeating monsters and avoiding traps.

I can't recommend it strongly enough!

I play STCCG and LotR TCG. They're fun to play, and I like both properties.

I still play MtG when I can get the chance to. I also dabble a little in UFS, but I haven't really put too much money in it.

Hello,
I must admit I still play Magic The Gathering, but these days more of the ONLINE version; less of the paper version as the
paper version appears more expensive.

Thank you,

CCGs and TCGs I've played and/or collected:

Call of Cthulhu (by FFG, not the Mythos version)
Lord of the Rings
Magic the Gathering
Legend of the Five Rings (L5R)
Vampire (VTES) - the online version thanks to the CCG Workshop program

I'd like to play the Rage werewolf ccg, and I'm curious about WofWarcraft, but I can't bring myself to give that franchise any more time or money

There's also an online version of a Marvel comics TCG that's just been released for the pc, curious about that too

probably going to look into Poxnora as well - these ads (and the ones I saw in Dragon (RIP)) got me looking into their site, interesting stuff

I play V:TES, and have played the on-line version when it was still free. Not a lot of time for CCG's thought...
