WA Olympia
Calendar Event:May 2, 2007 Interval: 7 days Repeat: repeat forever
Here's hoping I didn't screw up the calendar function.
This thread is now the home of Olympic Cards & Comics'Nights of Doom! I'll be posting updates here to let anyone in the area know about upcoming events - probably more detailed than the event calendar over at WizKids, so I'll have to see about cross-referencing.
We meet every Wednesday night at 8:00.
This Month's Events:
The month of June is devoted to the Freakshow.
June 6: Welcome to the Show.
Bring a new player (or be a new player) and get an exclusive Pierced Zombie to add to (or start) your collection. Rookie and veteran players will be teamed up for battle.
June 13: The 7 Horrors of Dr Kuei.
A mysterious circus comes to a western town bearing wonders and characters that entertain the inhabitants and teach valuable lessons. And when we say "entertain" we mean "terrify." And, naturally, the phrase "teach valuable lessons" is just a fancy way of saying "eat them."<p>
Dr Kuei's seven greatest attractions are powerful monsters who keep his other freaks and monsters in line, punishing those who would rebel. But when local monsters, resentful of Dr Kuei's intrusion, start stirring things up, can they stop the insurrection before it frightens off the patrons?<p>
June 20: One Night Only.
Ladies and Gentlemen, reserve your places now for this once-in-a-lifetime event! Never before have the terrors of the night been on display in such rare form. Witness the living dead as they prey upon the living! Recoil from the beasts that walk like men! And see in the souls of deranged killers the dark reflections of yourselves!
For one night only these beasts, freaks, and psychopaths will battle one another for your amusement. Audience participation is both welcome and mandatory. Don't miss it: the greatest massacre on Earth!

And hey, you should know about these:
House Rules:
-Foil-stamped Winner cards are considered unique, and may be included in a crypt alongside the non-stamped card of the same name.
-Repaints & mods are permitted with prior approval. No altered dials, please, and try to stick to the official WizKids guidelines for mods.
-Certain plot twists have been selected to be playable during one's own turn. These include Severed Limb, Bloody Feast, Big Ring of Keys, and Enforced Mutation.
-Certain HeroClix conversions may be tentatively approved. These must be thematically appropriate, and I encourage repaints & mods intended to create new characters. Point costs and monster cards will be scrutinized carefully, and I reserve the right to bar conversions from any event, or revoke approval individually or across the board.

I still say we need a creepy little girl. I want a figure so creepy I'm afraid to turn my back on it.

Special Events:
Welcome to the Show
New Player Night for Freakshow
June 5, 7:00 PM: Players new to the store or new to the game will get the NGN figure Pierced Zombie; if you're a regular, bring along a new player and get a Pierced Zombie of your own!
We're starting an hour early to make time for intros and tutorials before we get down to the nitty gritty. Starting at (hopefully) 8:00, we'll be teaming rookie players up with veterans to get a taste of a real bloodbath. Depending on how many players we've got, we may see a huge brawl in the midst of a traveling carnival, or we may see a series of smaller skirmishes spreading into the surrounding community.

If you're going to play here at OC&C, you'll need to play by the rules. So here's the serious and not-fun side of things.
Store Rules
Olympic Cards & Comics is a community-oriented and family-friendly environment. As such, the proprietor maintains certain rules of conduct, and we regulars take these seriously.
1. Respect the staff, your fellow players, and the store itself. Among other things, you listen quietly when one of the employees calls for everyone?s attention; you exhibit basic courtesy to other players (some good-natured trash-talking is one thing, but calling someone an idiot for making a bad move is right out); and you clean up any trash you may generate. An important part of respecting the store is treating the furniture appropriately ? rocking in chairs is a major pet peeve around here.
2. Watch your language. Because this is intended to be a safe environment for minors to hang out in, and in particular because their parents need to feel it?s a safe environment, we all refrain from swearing and engaging in ?adult? discourse. I know this can be an adjustment and I don?t mind giving friendly reminders, but I do have to enforce the store rules.
3. The last rule is so obvious that it doesn?t need to be in bold: stealing = badness. More importantly, if a theft is found to have occurred, even if it?s unrelated to our game, we need to stop what we?re doing and help it get dealt with. This can get pretty drastic: in the past this has included thorough search of the bags & belongings of every customer in the gaming area, when necessary. The owner may at her discretion choose to close down the gaming area, ending all games in play, and may conceivably require the forfeit of any and all prizes already awarded. I?ve never seen it happen and I don?t want to, so if badness occurs while we?re playing, just help get the matter dealt with and behind us.
If a player violates the rules once, one of that player's figures will be removed from play (and I may choose to reward bonus points to players who were actively trying to kill that monster). If a player commits a second violation, I may be forced to eject that player from the game, and nobody wants that.

May 16:Slasher War. As the rival slashers battle to prove who is the Slasher Supreme, the local cops, desperate to stop the killing, have set a trap. With several officers disguised as hapless teens, and more patrolling nearby, they are armed and ready for anything - or so they hope!

May 30:Slasher Showdown. The ragtag remnants of the slashers' warring armies meet for a final showdown in a desolate swamp. Little do they realize that the agents of Hell are on the way to pressgang them into infernal servitude.
We also had a special event that was such a hit, we'll probably do it again. We have 8 Widows left, after all!

A Bloodbath for Charity
May 18, 7:00 PM: Bring 3 nonperishable food items to join in our special giveaway scenario. We've got 15 LEs of The Widow, and a whole lotta victims, plot twists, and even some minions - and we're giving it all away! All you need to do is come, play, and kill kill kill!
